Indian Taekwondo Contingent participated in the 2024 World Taekwondo Virtual Championship in Singapore on 16~17 November 2024. 23 Countries participated in the 2024 World Championship. More than 120 athletes competed at the inaugural World Taekwondo Virtual Championships in Singapore from November 16-17, serving as a showcase of the sport’s innovation, diversity and inclusiveness.
Virtual Taekwondo uses the unique motion-tracking AXIS system developed by Refract Technologies and a virtual reality headset, creating a level playing field for athletes to compete in non-contact sparring.
The World Taekwondo Virtual Championships has marked a new era for the sport, offering participants new challenges, excitement and opportunities, delivering entertainment to the fans, and aligning Taekwondo with the advancements of the digital age.
Dr. Chung-won Choue, President of World Taekwondo, Prof. Jung Heon Kim, Chairman of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) under Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, South Korea, Former Member of Parliament Mr. Ser Miang NG, Member of International Olympic Committee (IOC), Chair of the Olympic ESports Games Steering Committee & Former Member of Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council, Mr. Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community & Youth, Government of Singapore along with other important dignitaries shared their valuable messages in the Opening Ceremony on 16th November 2024 at OCBC Arena, Singapore Sports Hub.

Tejas Yadav defeated Azerbaijan and clinched the Bronze Medal. After this great achievement Tejas was welcomed by the President of India Taekwondo Mr. Namdev Shirgaonkar at Mumbai Airport.
Pradipta Kumar Roy and Dhanashree Pawar both qualified up to QUARTER FINAL.
Pradipta Kumar Roy received a message from Hon’ble Chairman of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation that “It was very good to see your fighting in Singapore. Very impressive”.
Only two athletes from West Bengal, namely Pradipta Kumar Roy and Ruma Roy Chowdhury were selected to participate in the above-mentioned World Championship in Singapore.
Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) is under Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Government of South Korea.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the Olympic E-sports Games as a separate event to be held every two years in between the Summer and Winter Olympics.
You may be aware that the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal is the only Official Body, responsible for West Bengal under India Taekwondo (IT) – Official National Federation under World Taekwondo (WT) & Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU).
“India Taekwondo” (IT) athletes can only participate in the Official Events of the World Taekwondo (WT) including Olympic, E-SPORTS OLYMPIC GAMES, Paralympic, World Championship, Grand Prix, Asian Games etc…
